Learning Accommodations

The Somatic School supports individuals with disabilities and is committed to providing individuals reasonable accommodations in order to support their access. 

As an online training provider, our goal is to create a virtual learning environment which meets the needs of each individual student. We are able to accommodate a variety of learning disabilities to make our program more accessible. Please contact our Programme Lead Sam Taylor, sam@thesomaticschool.com before enrolling to determine if your needs can be met.

Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. We may ask for a short meeting with the student and Head of Training to explore what is feasible. A written record of agreed accommodations will be provided.

Requirements of the Participant

We expect all participants to adhere to the training room & breakout etiquette including being available to actively participate (coming off mute to share their learnings and explorations at various points during the training) and keeping cameras on through all live online training sessions.

Possible Accommodations Available

Content Delivery & Format

• Provide materials in advance so participants can preview and prepare
• Offer written transcripts or summaries of video/audio content
• Share agendas beforehand with time allocations for each activity
• Provide clear, explicit instructions rather than implied expectations
• Support the majority of the auditory knowledge transfer with slides with visuals and handouts.
• Make plenty of space for processing and exploration during the training.

Assessment & Practice

• Offer flexible deadlines or the ability to request extensions
• Provide rubrics or clear criteria for assignments
• Allow different demonstration methods for RWE assignment

Environment & Sensory Considerations

• Allow people to manage their own sensory environment
• Minimize sudden changes to schedule or format

Our Naturally Supportive Environment

The Somatic School’s training model is inherently designed to support diverse learners through:

• Regular breaks and pacing within every session to support regulation and embodiment.
• A two-hour lunch break on Module training days to allow rest, reflection and/or movement.
• A dedicated Wellness Pod, where students can access 1:1 support from the Module Companion who attends the full Module live.
• Integration sessions after every training Module to deepen learning and support personal processing.
• Community-wide practicums held throughout the month for additional practice, connection and peer learning.
• A culture of check-ins and embodied presence that recognises and honours individual differences.
• A global community of Somanauts accessible on Circle — peers who bring empathy, curiosity and shared understanding to the learning space.

These features mean that our programmes are already unusually spacious and inclusive by design.
